Barriston LLP is proud to announce a $1,000 contribution from the Barriston Cockburn Fund to the Mariposa House Hospice, made in honour of Patricia (Pat) Henry, the longtime Simcoe County Courthouse Librarian who passed away in October of this year.
Pat was a trusted and familiar face to generations of local lawyers. Throughout her thirty-four years with the Law Library, she offered guidance, resources, and a warm welcome to those navigating their early days in practice and beyond. Her passing has been deeply felt across the local legal community.
Mariposa House Hospice is a non-profit charitable organization serving the communities of Orillia, Severn, Oro-Medonte, Ramara, and the Chippewas of Rama First Nation. Their dedicated team offers 24-hour specialized end-of-life palliative care in a peaceful, homelike setting while welcoming and supporting family and friends.
The Barriston Cockburn Community Fund was established in 2022 to honour John Richard (Bud) Cockburn, Q.C., a beloved Barriston partner who retired after nearly 60 years of practice. The fund, held at the Barrie Community Foundation, provides an avenue for the firm to make charitable contributions that have a lasting local impact.
This year’s contribution recognizes both Pat Henry’s legacy and the essential work of Mariposa House Hospice, which offers end-of-life care, comfort, and dignity to individuals and their families across Simcoe County.
Barriston LLP remains committed to supporting the communities where its lawyers and staff live and work. Through the Barriston Cockburn Community Fund, the firm continues to build on a long tradition of giving back and fostering connection across Central Ontario.
